Be A Mentor enables youth to develop positive relationships with caring adults who empower them to reach their full potential through mentorship. The Gala pays tribute to children who are going places and the mentors who are believing in our local youth.
NOVEMBERChrys Kanos, our Partner and Private Wealth Advisor at Bera Wealth Advisors welcomed his second daughter, Hollis, into the world. Both wife McKensie and daughter Lennox are overjoyed and love being a family of four.

Educators and school staff have gone above and beyond to assist from the beginnings of preschool all the way through high school and college. We entrust our educators with the care and nurturing of our children, especially during a year of ongoing change, we thank you for blazing a trail for our children to follow. Your kindness, resilience, and educational enrichment has helped our children endure and grow in this ever-evolving environment.
JULYMembers of Bera Wealth Advisors and Northwestern Mutual Charleston attend the NM annual meeting in Milwaukee. The meeting kicked off with 10,000 people running a 5K along Lake Michigan followed by many days of new learnings and motivational speakers.
JUNESince not only the wellbeing of our clients is top priority for our team at Bera Wealth Advisors, a few of the Bera Team members joined together for a Tabata workout at Sullivans’s Island during sunrise to get their fitness on early in the morning.
MAYChrys and several members of the Northwestern Mutual Charleston team play over 100 holes of golf in 12 hours raising more than $100,000 for the local First Tee Charitable Organization.
APRILEvery month our Private Wealth Advisor, Spencer Schulz, leads a call with Asian American financial advisors. This year included Honolulu, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, St. Louis. Spencer was asked to mentor these advisors since he himself is of Filipino/Chinese origin. Among other topics, Spencer helps the advisors with working in the Asian-American market, helping them get their business off to a fast start, and consulting with them on current issues. Every year the group gets together for the multi culture affinity summit.
MARCHIt’s important for our partners to meet every month and at Bera we like to add a twist of fun to it whenever we can. In March, our partners went out to Folly Beach and conducted their meeting on Heath’s boat accompanied by a few cold beverages. After wrapping up the initial get together the team took a cruise and ended up back at Heath’s beach house. Later, the team headed to a few different spots on Folly Beach to celebrate Spencer and Evan becoming members of Bera. The most memorable moment of the night was Evan gifting Heath, Chrys, and Spencer single barrel bottles of bourbon from Paddock & Whisky – he selected bottles that he thought best represented their personalities. Overall, our partners had a blast and are planning to do another get together next year!
FEBRUARYChrys and several members of the Charleston District Office celebrate impacting over 750 new clients in 2021 by going down to Key West for a few days of relaxation and fellowship.
JANUARYIn January 2022, Evan hired Carter Bunn as his Director of Client Experience to support his team. Carter is striving to build strong relationships & help others become the best versions of themselves, whether it's personally, or now, financially.
